| Using Easy Link for Windows Media
Content |
 |
Features
Dynamic ASX, WVX and WAX file generation for all Windows media types
URL formatting for streaming or progressive downloads
Preclip and postclip insertion
Banner element insertion
Use of Beta Windows Media servers
Base URL
http://easylink.playstream.com/
Path
servicename/file.wvx or servicename/directory/file.wvx (You can put multiple
directories after your servicename)
The file can be of ASF, WMV or WMA type. After you upload your Windows Media
file, make sure you link correctly to it. It is recommended you alter the file
extension in your "Easy Link" so your media will play correctly on the
Macintosh platform. DO NOT ALTER THE ACTUAL FILE NAME, just the Easy
Link to it:
Actual File Name
file.wmv
file.wma
file.asf |
Easy Link
http://easylink.playstream.com/servicename/file.wvx
http://easylink.playstream.com/servicename/file.wax
http://easylink.playstream.com/servicename/file.asx |
Altering the link allows Macintosh computers to know this file is associated
with Windows Media Player. Otherwise, the Mac doesn't know what to do with the
reference file that is returned from Easy Link.
The text way of linking to Windows Media files is the use of an ASX reference
file. Since ".asx" is recognized as a Windows Media Player file, there is no
need to alter the link when using ASX linking:
Actual File Name
file.wmv
file.wma
file.asf |
MMS Link (in an ASX file)
mms://win.playstream.com/servicename/file.wmv
mms://win.playstream.com/servicename/file.wma
mms://win.playstream.com/servicename/file.asf |
